International Conference “In Love with Reading”, 5th Edition
“Librarians for Librarians”
5 minutes of soul for 5 years of with reading
– An event dedicated to those who give stories –
Between 23–28 February 2026, the “George Barițiu” County Library Brașov, through the Centre of Excellence for Children and Youth, will organize the 5th edition of the International Conference “In Love with Reading”, a professional event dedicated to librarians, to those who give stories, and to the promotion of reading within the community.
The “In Love with Reading” Conference was initiated in 2022, on the occasion of celebrating the National Reading Day, established by Law no. 21 of 14 January 2022, which designates 15 February as the National Reading Day. Over time, the event has developed into a framework for professional exchange, reflection, and the sharing of best practices among librarians and educators.
This year’s edition, themed “Librarians for Librarians” – 5 minutes of soul for 5 years of falling in love with reading, has an anniversary character, marking five years of activities carried out at national and international levels.
This year’s International Conference is held under the auspices of the Association of Librarians from Romania (ABR), the National Association of Librarians and Public Libraries of Romania (ANBPR), and the Library Association of the Republic of Moldova (ABRM), to whom we express our sincere gratitude for their support and involvement.
The concept of the 5th edition involves the organization of reading meetings dedicated to librarians, those who give stories, held locally in public and school libraries, in small groups. Each participant will read, for a maximum of 5 minutes, a fragment from a book of personal or professional significance, in an informal setting, without the use of digital devices.
From these “Librarians for Librarians” meetings, living resources will emerge, built from emotion, experience, and a passion for reading. Each group will share on the Facebook page, using the hashtag #LibrariansForLibrarians, at least 5 titles of the books they have read – titles that will serve as sources of inspiration for future book clubs and as valuable reading recommendations for library users.
The activities will take place simultaneously in libraries from Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and international communities, contributing to the consolidation of a professional network based on dialogue, inspiration, and a sense of belonging.
The conference aims to highlight the role of the librarian as a cultural mediator, to encourage the exchange of experience, and to strengthen the cohesion of the professional community.
All organizers and participants involved in carrying out the conference activities will receive certificates of participation.
For better organization of the event, librarians who will organize meetings within the framework of the conference are kindly asked to register by 28 February 2026, by completing the form available at the following link.
The form must be completed exclusively by the meeting organizers, not by the participants.
