The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 edition of the “IFLA/James Bennett Public Library of the Year” Award, an international distinction recognizing the most innovative newly built or renovated public libraries.
The competition is open to libraries inaugurated in 2025, whether they are new buildings, major extensions, or spaces adapted for use as public libraries.
The award highlights institutions that successfully combine functional architecture with modern digital solutions and strong community integration, setting international standards in accessibility, sustainability, and user experience.
The 2026 edition also marks the beginning of a new partnership with the main sponsor, James Bennett, which will support the award in the coming years.
