
Education for Sustainable Development
Romanian National Commission for UNESCO announces that applications are now open for the “Okayama Award 2026 – Education for Sustainable Development”, a distinction dedicated to outstanding projects in this field.
Granted by the authorities of Okayama Prefecture, the award recognizes innovative educational initiatives that contribute to advancing sustainable development and achieving the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The competition is open to organizations worldwide, including libraries, educational institutions, and non-governmental organizations that implement impactful projects in education for sustainable development. Special attention is given to initiatives that generate community impact and promote best practices in education, environmental protection, and social inclusion.
Winners will benefit from international recognition and the opportunity to present their projects on a global stage, encouraging knowledge exchange and the development of new partnerships.
Libraries, as key actors in lifelong learning, are encouraged to apply with projects that support literacy, environmental awareness, and civic engagement.
